Tracker Software Developers,
I recently had a client, who I had purchase PDF-XChanger Viewer Pro, need to scan and email documents to some of their clients. While I went through training them on this, I noticed a couple of minor things that made it difficult for a person that is not too computer savvy. They seemed to keep getting stuck on a couple of things even after I had gone over it several times.
1). When the user scanned a document (a simple one or two page file), they could NOT select the "File -> Send by Email as ZIP" menu option (it was disabled). I had to teach them to save the document first and then the option was enabled so they could email it. I believe this menu option should always be enabled. If the user selects it, PDF-XChange Viewer should prompt them that the document must be saved first. At that point it's more straight forward to the user rather than not knowing why that menu option is not available. You could simply ask the user for the email attachment name and then save it to the location they chose. Perhaps those types of saves could be retained in a specific path/folder that is different than other saves PDF-XChange Viewer does normally. This way any subsequent similar actions to send by email could pop open the same folder location for this type of save. I believe this would be very possible (and much easier/friendly).
2). In the File menu the option's caption is "Send by Email as ZIP". At first the user doesn't even want to click on this because they didn't want to send it as a ZIP file. Of course when the menu option is selected it shows "Send by Email" as an alternative selection. I believe the File menu selection should simply read "Send by Email..." and then once selected the user may select by ZIP or not.
Would you please consider making these minor changes to a near future version?
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Kindest Regards,
Nelson

Re: Suggestion: Send by Email...
Hi Nelson,
Thank you for your post and suggestions.
I have added them to the wish list for new features on coming releases to be evaluated by the Development team.
I agree with the first suggestion, as saving the file to get access to that function is implied and the user does not have this information beforehand.
About the second suggestion, the second option "Send by Email As ZIP" is a quick and handy way to compress the file with a standard format and send by email. Please also note that this is a second option, the first one is to send the file by Email as it is and this is the default.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Thank you for your post and suggestions.

Re: Suggestion: Send by Email...
Thank you for the prompt reply Nico.
To your reply on my suggestion #2
File -> Send by Email
-> Send PDF as attachment
-> Send PDF as ZIP attachment
I understand some users may want to send as a ZIP more than not (being a smaller attachment, etc.). But I was just suggesting this since I encountered it in a real world situation and there are probably more instances of users not being as computer savvy as others.
Thank you for putting these in to be evaluated by the Development team.
Best Regards,
Nelson
To your reply on my suggestion #2
What I was trying to explain is that if the user selects File -> Send Email as ZIP (the main selection off the File menu), it opens up their email client and is attaching the PDF as a compressed ZIP file. My client is sending these to people who may not even be familiar with a ZIP file. I know they are supported by Windows, but some recipients may not know what do to with a ZIP file. So my suggestion was to make the default action under the File menu simply "Send by Email" (without using ZIP). If the user wants to send it as a compressed ZIP, then that option should be under the sub-menu of File -> Send Email....the second option "Send by Email As ZIP" is a quick and handy way to compress the file with a standard format and send by email. Please also note that this is a second option, the first one is to send the file by Email as it is and this is the default.

Re: Suggestion: Send by Email...
Hi Nelson,
Thank you for your reply.
I totally understand your suggestion and I have included it in the list but I have to say as my personal opinion that the Zip compression format has been around for quite a long time now, and it is supported by most of the Operating Systems nowadays and users should know what is it and what it is used for. A proper analogy would be an image editing program, a serious user should have an idea at least of the different compression formats and which one is more useful than others in what situations.
Anyway, thank you for your feedback we really appreciate it and as I said before, this will be evaluated by the Development team and it will be their decision to include or not to include the feature.
Thanks.
