Clean scanned book pages

I wonder if it is possible to clean the smudge from the middle of scanned book pages. I've attached a sample file. The black bar on the left can be removed easy enough, but what about the shadow in the center between the pages?

Hello Hasko,

And welcome to our forums. I am afraid that this is a problem with the scanned image, and for now our Viewer does not allow you to edit the image directly - so if possible - try to scan your pages, then open them in an image editing software, and only then convert them to PDFs.

Yes, I know it's a problem with the scan -- but it wasn't me who did that. I got those messy pages from soemone else who apparently doesn't know how to use a scanner properly ... So maybe this is a feature request for a future version?

Hi Hasko,

Yes we are considering an option that would allow you to open an image embedded in a PDF document in an external image editting software - and then when done with the modifications - replace the image inside the PDF with the new modified image.

This is a work in progress however, so for the time being you might want to try our PDF Tools - to extract this image from your PDF file, then edit it with a third party image manipulation software and as a final step create a new PDF document from the modified image.
