Noticed yesterday that if a PDF opens in Opera it uses the same tab as the one that the link is on. When I've read the PDF, there seems to be no way of closing the viewer without closing the tab. Yesterday I was opening 3 PDFs in turn and had to close the tab after each one then re-open it.
I'm probably missing something obvious, but how do I get back from the viewer to the site, please?

Re: Closing a PDF in Opera
Hi Giraffe,
Where a link will open (in the same window/tab or in a new one) depends on the link itself.
But once the Viewer plug-in has been loaded in the window - you will need to click the back arrow at the address bar.
I am also using opera and very much used to the mouse back gesture - but once a PDF is loaded the Viewer starts intercepting all key input, so you need to search for the back button manually.
Or right-click the links and select "open in new background tab"
Best,
Stefan

Re: Closing a PDF in Opera
OK Stefan, thanks. The back button was greyed out on those PDFs; I hadn't thought to open it in a new tab because I was expecting it to download - some do, some don't.
There's also the situation where I use a link in Dialog or T'bird, Opera come to the fore and the PDF just opens - very useful but... I'll try copying the link and using a new tab.

Re: Closing a PDF in Opera
Hi Giraffe,
Whether a PDF will download or open will depend on the way the specific page is coded - some might force it as a download, others might let the browser handle it in which case our Viewer plug-in will be used.
The back button is definitely not disabled for me - see the attached image - so maybe there are some custom settings on your machine, or the links are somewhat special?
(if you open a PDF in a new tab - of course there won't be any history for that tab and the back button will be inactive but I don' think this is what you are experiencing)
Best,
Stefan
