PDF-XChange Viewer Manual No Longer Available?

Post by RNFolsom »

I have a PDF-XChange Viewer Manual for version 2.5.201 (© 2001-2011), which I think was still in use in August of 2012 (because I downloaded a manual which had exactly the same byte size as the 2.5.201 manual). Today, with the arrival of PDF-XChange Viewer version 2.5.206, I searched for an updated manual on Tracker's website, and could not find a manual of any vintage.

Has Tracker software stopped making manuals available?

If manuals still are available, what is the location of the latest PDF-XChange Viewer Manual, ideally for 2.5.206 (although I realize that Tracker's manuals usually lag the product)?

Thanks for any comments, suggestions, or help.

Hi Roger,

Instead of the full manual there should still have been a copy of the attached file provided with the Viewer installer with a link inside for a download of the full file.

We've done this to reduce the initial download time and installer size.

Best,
Stefan

Stefan:

Thanks for the link. My apologies for taking so long to reply. I have simply been swamped with other projects. FYI, I feared that the manual was not available online, because I didn't find it available on the home page, where I think it used to be available (along with the PDF-XChange Viewer itself). But I've just now discovered that the manual (along with PDF-XChange Viewer itself) is available on your website, at a location "close to" the home page, at https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... nge-viewer.

I think that's a good place for the manual, because someone considering your software might want to look at the manual first, to see what they were getting into.

Thanks again. There's no need for you to reply to this message, unless there's a rule about that.

P.S. After downloading the manual, I checked and it is the same version (2.5.201) that I already have, even though I have PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5.205, which I think is the latest. I'm not complaining about the manual not keeping up with the software, because I have read the excuses for that in the manual --- and Tracker is very busy with version 3.x.

But I still think --- as I have mentioned previously somewhere in these forums, probably more than once --- Tracker looks sloppy and careless if a user (before opening PDF-XChange Viewer) right clicks the downloaded PDFVManual.pdf, selects Properties, and in the PDF Information tab reads that they have the manual for PDF-XChange Viewer 2.0. That should read 2.5.x (which would match the manual's interior on page 2).

No need to reply to this P.S. But I hope you can forward it to someone who can do something about it. For Tracker to look sloppy and careless is bad marketing --- and it wastes the new customer's time because the exterior location contradicts the interior and/or vice versa.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yes the manual is available as a separate download from the Viewer's own page.

As for the manual version mismatches - passed to the person responsible :)

Cheers,
Stefan
