PDF XChange Viewer: Print configuration

Post by PursellB »

We have a requirement to configure PDF XChange Viewer (latest version), so that the following options are enforced for all computers on our domian that have PDF XChange Viewer installed:
File -> Print... -> Page Scaling -> Scaling Type -> Fit to printer margins
File -> Print... -> Page Scaling -> Auto-centre pages in sheets (Enabled)

We are using Windows 7 SP1 computers.

If the user of the computer needs to change these settings, that would be okay, however the solution would need to re-apply these settings at a later date.

I have investigated an ADM file (Group Policy), registry change solution without success so far.

If you know of any way that these settings can be enforced (either during the installation of the software or post installation), I would really appreciate you advice.

Thanks.
:)

Hello PursellB,

And thanks for your post.

Actually a registry modification after install should work.
The values you need are
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\Print\ScaleType = 1 (Fit to printer Margins)
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer\Print\ScaleSimple\AutoCentre = 1 (Automatically center pages in sheets for Fit to printer Margins)

If you want to make more than just this modification to the default Viewer values - then you might consider setting everything up on one machine - and exporting all settings to a data file. Then you can add a script that runs once (or every time) a user logs on the following command line - and applies those predefined settings to our Viewer.
<path to>\PDFXCview.exe /importp <setting_file_path_and_name>

Best,
Stefan

Great news - thanks Brian :)
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.
