Repeated crashes when starting PDF-Change Viewer PRO

I have the Pro version, and the one from Nov. 2012 (I think it's the latest).

This morning my Windows 8 laptop has crashed at least 5 times immediately after trying to launch PDF-XChange Viewer PRO. In fact, I didn't even know that Win8 had a blue screen of death.

I installed Win8 Pro as soon as it was officially downloadable. (It's not a beta, and so far as I know, it's entirely updated.)

At this point, I can't even use PDF-XChange Viewer on my laptop, but I do not like Adobe's Reader.

thanks for the post. Does this happen with all files or only specific ones? Looking at what you are saying, perhaps there isn't even a file involved? Does the crash happen just by launching the Viewer?

We've tested the Viewer on Win 8 and it should be working fine, in fact we expect our certification for Win 8 very soon.

If you send us a sample PDF that always causes the crash and we'll take a look. If it's without even opening a document the first thing I'd have you do is uninstall --> Restart --> re-install and let us know the results.

It doesn't seem to matter what I try to open. I've both tried to click on PDF documents and the application, and in both cases I get the blue screen of death.

On the other hand, I now am crashing for no apparent reason at all, certainly not because of PDF-XChange Viewer. Bummer.

This might indicate a hardware problem. There are quite some free tools out there that could help you test your system. I would recommend you to check the RAM first (quickest test) and then run some tests on the disk drive as well.

Turns out the problem was Wolfram Mathematica 9. I installed it this morning, and they sent a patch this evening, saying that users were getting the blue screen of death. It was some kind of font problem, which (I guess) explains why PDF-XChange Viewer Pro was so highly correlated with the crashes.
