Tracker Annotation not showing in 3rd Party Viewer
Attached is an example file annotated using the tracker PDF-xchange Viewer v2.5.207 and a second one re-edited with Adobe Reader v11. The annotation in pdf-XChange viewer does not appear in a third party viewer whereas opening this file in adobe and moving the annotation and saving the file allows the annotation to be viewable in the third party viewer. Can you please tell why by reviewing the attached files.

Re: Tracker Annotation not showing in 3rd Party Viewer
Hi docu-track99,
Which is the third party Viewer in question? As I tried with both Adobe's reader and Nitro - and both opened either file correctly, and displayed the stamps.
Best,
Stefan

Respectfully - I would suggest you ask them to investigate - if Adobe see's our Comments/stamps etc - then I think that is the benchmark ...
Cheers

Re: Tracker Annotation not showing in 3rd Party Viewer
Thanks docu-track99,
I notice that the original file is created with build 189 of our Products. If you can - please try to update to the latest build, and see if the file produced this way will then have any issues when stamps are added?
Best,
Stefan

Re: Tracker Annotation not showing in 3rd Party Viewer
This reference on the CaseWare forum may provide a clue as to the source of the problem.

In order to add annotation to a PDF document, the internal PDF viewer must be used as opposed to an Adobe product or other external software. Right-click the PDF document in the document manager and select Properties. Set the Viewer option to Internal image viewer. Working Papers' internal image viewer has full annotation functionality. It is based on positional coordinates (rather than being tied to some specific text) so if the contents of the PDF is changed, the annotation locations could require adjustment.

Re: Tracker Annotation not showing in 3rd Party Viewer
Hi docu-track99,
Then it seems like their internal Viewer is the one that does not fully support annotations that are compliant with the PDF ISO specification when they explicitly advise you to only use their internal tool!
Best,
Stefan

Then it would appear they have some 'special' characteristics of their own if even Adobe's own (using their advice) should not be used and this is bound to lead to some issues - seems a strange course to take to me - stepping outside of the PDF standard is not advisable if you wish to maintain compatibility and ensure documents archived will always be viewable no matter what product is used to view or modify - who is to say this user will always want to use their product in the future - what then ..?
