Hi, I have been trying the trial version 3.0, and it seems still missing a feature that allows users to duplicate a tab as in chrome browser. This makes easy for users to see two different parts of a long pdf by opening the same pdf twice.
I understand that there is a function "split window" in v.3, but one has to keep scrolling left/right to get to the right section on a small laptop screen. Also, even the option "allow multiple instances" in version 2.5 is less than desirable, because if I have multiple tabs open in a window, when I open another pdf twice, it opens the pdf in a new window, but together with all the other tabs which are not necessary. Hopefully, the feature "duplicate tab" would be implemented in the new version. Thanks.

Re: duplicate tab
Hi parkc23,
Thank you for your suggestion.
In PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5 you can actually open the same document in two different instances without any other documents in other tabs. You just need to go to Edit->Preferences ->General and uncheck "Restore Last Session when application starts" at "Opening Documents" and check "Allow Multiple Instances". Then close all the tabs you are not interested in before opening the second instance of the Viewer. The Golden version of PDF-XChange Editor will have an option as the PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5 to enable or disable multiple instances, this will allow you to accomplish what you are looking for (all the screen width or height will be available to show the document) as before.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Thank you for your suggestion.

Re: duplicate tab
Thanks for the reply. While disabling "restore last session" in combination with enabling "allow multiple sessions" could be a solution, the feature "restore last session" is very useful for me. As such, I wish the new version would offer a way to get around this issue, preferably with a menu item "duplicate". Thanks.

Re: duplicate tab
V3 has a command "Windows -> New Window" which creates an additional frame for an active document (due to some issues this command is turned off in the Release Candidate version).

Re: duplicate tab
That sounds great. Besides under Windows > New window, it would be more intuitive if it is included in a "right-click" menu for a tab to duplicate it.

Hi parkc23,
thanks for the suggestion. While we can't promise it right away we will certainly entertain the thought. The final decision will be with the development team leader most likely.

That's great to know that I am not the only one who is missing the duplicate function in such great PDF viewer. I am looking forward to have it in next version as well.parkc23 wrote:That sounds great.
