X-Change unwated completion

Post by Couperin »

The attached is a New Hampshire court pdf form, they are not the swiftest folks at coding. In this case when I try and print blank copies for use, using the latest version of X-Change it insist on adding "0.00" to the 3 TOTALS on the front page, and the one on the 2nd sheet. Tested against Adobe Reader it does not add these unwanted completions. What's going on ? Printed duplex on a Canon MF4150 running Win 7 x64 SP1. Thanks.

Hello Couperin,

I could not reproduce this problem, and I believe this kind of bug was resolved quite some time ago, so could you please go to Help -> About in our Viewer, and check the build number you currently have installed. If it's anything other than 2.5.207 then please download and install the latest version from here:
www.tracker-software.com/PDFXVwer.zip
And this problem should disappear.

Best,
Stefan

Sorry, that's exactly the version I'm using, I downloaded it 2 days ago. I just tried printing one copy again and it's still producing 0.00 in bold in all 4 total positions.

Hi Couperin,

Could you please let us know the device to which you are printing and maybe e.g. scan a printed page, archive it and attach it here?

Thanks,
Stefan

1. I already told you I'm printing to a Canon MF4150.

2. I attach a scan of the front of the form the way it prints. The "0.00" also appears in the Total at the top of page 2.

3. The point is to print blank copies to be completed by defendants in Court, I never 'complete' a form or have any use for same. I just want the blank form printed. I'll point out I have now tried this with 3 other pdf readers, including Adobe and every other one prints this correctly without adding any entries. I happen to prefer using your reader, it is, obviously, not just printing the blank form but 'executing' unwanted totals embedded in the form, which is unwanted and it should not be doing. This clearly has nothing to do with the printer which isn't capable of rendering anything but what it's told.

I also just uninstalled and reinstalled the application in case that was the issue, it is not. I also in the process wnet through all the Preferences and UNCHECKED "Auto calculate form fields" in case that was causing the issue. That did not help, it still insists on adding 0.00 totals everywhere on the form.

I cannot reproduce the issue and as I see it these fields are empty, so, it is a bit strange that on your side 0.00 printed.

Can you turn the fields highlight on (there is a button at the bottom of document view) and check if the fields are empty - as I see it in these forms many text fields are using white as the color for text.

Hi Couperin,

Thank you for your post.
I managed to reproduce the defect with a Canon MF4360, the empty form prints 0.00 in the total fields.
A bug fix request was created with ticket #1730. As soon as we get a fix for this issue we will contact you to download the latest version of PDF-XChange Viewer.
Thanks.

Sincerely,
Couperin

Thank you very much. This is why I like your products, you have a sincere interest in their quality . I realize the MF4150 is an older printer,, it has the same 'problem': Canon quality keeps them just running inexpensively and unlike certain other brands (cough cough HP cough) they continue to provide drivers and utilities so your printer isn't made artificially obsolete after 2 years or when you upgrade to a new OS.
