All of a sudden, when I open a PDF file by clicking on it or by using "Open with PDF-XChange Viewer" from the right click context menu in Windows Explorer, the program tries to print the file rather than just opening it. It always just opened it in the past.
I am using Windows 7 and PDF XChange Viewer 2.5 build 208.
Does anyone know what I've done to make it do this? Any ideas on how to get it back to normal?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: opening a PDF tries to print it
Hi Bill,
it's possible this file has JavaScript in it that causes it to print on opening. This is frequently done with vouchers and the like. There are two things you can try:
1. Open it in Adobe Reader and see if the same behavior is evident. If so it is probably by design.
2. Disable JavaScript in the Viewer Edit --> Preferences --> Enable JavaScript Actions [uncheck the box] then try to open the file.
Can you try that and let me know what happens?

Re: opening a PDF tries to print it
Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. I think that was it. I had tried several files, but they were from the same source and they all wanted to print. I tried a few others from other sources and they did not try to print. I had never run into this before.
I disabled Java Script within the viewer and I got an error window that said that the file contained Java Script and did I want to enable it. I said no, and it opened just fine and I didn't get the print window.
Thanks for your help. I would have never figured this one out on my own.

My pleasure Bill,
you may want to turn JavaScript back on however as you are limiting functionality with it off. You can always disable it again if it's a problem.
