Firefox 18, Adobe, PDF files do not open in browser

I'm using the latest version of PDF-Xchange Viewer Pro, I installed it with the option to open PDFs in browser, double-checked it in Preferences, File Associations and "Display PDF in Browser" is checked. Yet when I click on a PDF link, it opens in the browser with Adobe.

In Firefox Options, Applications for all Adobe entries (Forms, XML) it lists "Use PDF-Xchange Viewer." It does NOT say (in Firefox). Also, for PDF-XChange Viewer Document, it says "Use PDF XChange Viewer (default)". Again, it does NOT say (in Firefox) nor is that option available with the drop-down menu.

How can I get PDFs to open in Firefox without it using Adobe?

what version of Firefox are you using? Lets use this URL as a reference so we are all talking the same thing: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/fckfile ... hartEU.pdf.

It is opening in Firefox 18.0.1 OK. In Firefox go to Tools --> Add-ons --> Plugins and explicitly disable Adobe and our Viewer should then be available in Firefox Tools --> Options --> Applications --> PDF

Thanks for your reply.

I've done as you said, but now PDFs open in PDF XChange itself, not in Firefox. When I go into applications and try to select "PDF XChange (in Firefox)," there is no "in Firefox" option, just PDF XChange.

Can you please check in Firefox -> Tools -> Add-ons, if you can see our PDF-XChange Viewer plug-in?
If not - try copying the file
C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Viewer\npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll
to the Firefox plug-ins folder (on my machine that is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins )
And see if after rebooting firefox you would be able to select to display PDFs using our Viewer (in Firefox).

Do you mean in the list of add-ons in firefox or the .dll file is in the Plug-ins folder in Firefox?

If the plug-in is listed in the add-ons list, but the .dll is not in the plug-ins folder can you try to copy the npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll in the Firefox\plugins folder and see if that will have any effect.

Also have you tried to uninstall our Viewer, reboot, and then install it anew after firefox has updated (currently to version 18.0.2)?

I meant that the plugin is listed in Firefox. I just copied the dll in the plugin folder and restarted. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled. The only thing that changed is that now there is the option that says "PDF XChange (default)" And I updated to FF 18.0.2

I'm using the plugin in FF 18.0.2. Can you also look in the Add-ons page and explicitly disable any other PDF plugins, most particularly Adobe if it is there. For some reason unless all other PDF plugins are explicitly disabled FF will not allow ours to run.

Can you confirm this in your case?
