Bad rendering printing on XPS or Postscript printer

Post by cmarsura »

Hi,
I am experiencing bad rendering on the output if I print a PDF/A with text and images on a XPS printer or Postscript printer like the HP Universal Printing PS v 5.3; some customers are also reporting that if they print it on a Konica laser printer in Windows XP, the pages containing images are very faded (unfortunately, I have no information on what type/version of driver they are using). This happens on Windows 7 and XP both.
As footnotes:
  • the .204 through the .209 version of the viewer seems to have the problem
  • the .195 version of the viewer seems to print well same pdf
  • the pdf is not malformed because it pass validation at http://www.datalogics.com/products/call ... nedemo.asp
  • Acrobat Reader 9.4, used as reference program, render well same pdf
I sent you privately a copy of a pdf exhibiting the problem starting from page 11.

Many thanks.
Carlo

Hi Carlo,

Thanks for the sample file. I've created a ticket in our system:
#1769: Bad rendering printing on XPS or Postscript printer (worked OK in build 195)
Though can't make any promises if/when this could be fixed, as V3 is almost ready - and it's printing engine is totally different, and should not experience the same problems, so the V2.5 printing might not be changed before V3 is released.

Best,
Stefan
