Custom paper size bug?
Hi!
I'm testing your application for us to use in the future, and everything looks great, except when i try to print something large with our large format printer (Canon iPF765), with custom paper size, the PDF viewer sends only A4 size page..
With Adobe Reader, and Nitro PDF, it works just fine.
Example pictures with the setting, and the result attached.
Sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language.

Re: Custom paper size bug?
Hello DooDoo,
And welcome to our forums.
I've just recently encountered a similar problem with a Canon iPF810 plotter, and we have a ticket in our internal system for that problem (#1768), so I will add your issue to that ticket, and my colleagues from the dev team will investigate and see to fix this as soon as possible.
We will update this forum topic as soon as we have further information on this case.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Custom paper size bug?
Actually one more thing
Our problem is with all PDF viewers which we already tested is that they all remember the print settings even when the program is closed.
I work in a copy shop, where our customers can print themselves self-service mode. And the problem is that if someone prints multiple pages on one, the next customer wants to print something one on one page, but doesn't check the settings (unfortunately that's quite common), and he/she prints with multiple pages on one, even though he/she wanted one page on one.
So if your viewer would have a checkbox in the options somewhere, where we could set if the program should remember the last setting or not, that would be awesome, and i would definitely recommend buying your software to the management.
Or a page in the options menu where we could set the default printing preferences (like fit to page, auto center, etc.)
Or on the printing window there would be a button saying "set as default"
Or something like that
I personally can't name any PDF viewer that can do this.
Any chance for that?
Thanks!

Re: Custom paper size bug?
Hello DooDoo,
I think such an option might be considered but for the moment I am not aware of any plans for actually implementing a "reset all printer settings" option.
However all these settings are stored in the registry so maybe you can set up the shared system in such a way so that the windows profile is "wiped clean" after each user - so that the new one will have the default settings in our Viewer as well?
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Custom paper size bug?
Thanks for your reply!
Our customers doesn't log in, and log out from windows, we just turn on the computers in the morning, and they just use it after eachother.
But your post gave me an idea, and i found out, if i give the windows user account read-only access to the registry key, which hold the settings, it should work.. after it's already set to the desired parameters...
One more small thing, on the printing window, at the duplex setting, the texts "on long-side" and "on short-side" (something like that i can't check that now), aren't translated to hungarian. The rest of the window is ok.

Hi DooDoo,
well after discussing this with the development team leader he said the following:
For now we cannot comment on exactly what this will look like - as things progress we will have a better idea of how this is to be implemented, rest assured however that it will give you what you need.

So I have made a formal Feature Request that can be tracked (internally only) RT#1770: Feature Request : maintain default print settings optionlooks like there are no way for now to do what he needs.
You can make a feature request and we will try to implement it in next build of V2.5 or V3

Re: Custom paper size bug?
Hello DooDoo,
For the original problem with printing at an incorrect scale, can you please try to:
1) In the Printer Layout click the "Settings" button
2) Select "Special Settings"
3) Switch the "Fine Zoom" option from Auto to No
4) Confirm with OK, and click Apply after that.
And let us know if this helps!
Best,
Stefan

Hello Fuxx,
And welcome to our forums. I am afraid that for the moment this is the only workaround we have found. But the PDF-X Editor should be released very soon and it's printing engine is written entirely from scratch, so it should not have the problems the current Viewer has with printing to some devices!
Best,
Stefan
