Network connection lost... no opportunity to save as

Post by altendky »

When I lose my network connect a dialog pops up saying:

> The document "<name>" from file "<path>" is no longer available and will be closed.

The only options are Reopen and OK. This means that any unsaved changes are lost. While it seems like a good idea to warn when a document becomes unavailable, it hardly makes sense to force the user to throw away unsaved changes... especially when the network connection has been restored.

Otherwise? I am very pleased I found this product and gave it a try. Thanks so much for sharing it.

HI altendky,

thanks for the post and kind words about the viewer. After V3 is released later this month we are planning on adding some document autosave/recovery features and that should protect against a program crash but it doesn't help with this network connection issue so we are also looking at making a copy of a file on opening that should help with the network issue you describe.

While it won't be in the initial V3 release it is planned.

hth
Best regards

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess for now I'll just have to keep my own local copy.
