Hi,
after updating from IE9 to IE10 my system tries to open all pdf files in Adobe Professionel. Before the update it was PDF-Xchange Viewer. I can't find where to change this.
Sorry if this is answered in any kind of FAQ.
Set as default pdf viewer in IE 10

Re: Set as default pdf viewer in IE 10
Hello MrBusiness,
And welcome to our forums.
We do have a Knowledge Base as well - and there's an article in it on the subject:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/388
Please check this one out, and see if it will help. The notes related to IE in that KB article are for versions 8 and 9, but pretty much the same settings should apply for V10 as well.
Best,
Stefan

Thanks for the link, that should be the solution, but I do not have a Plugin from Tracker Software to select in this list.
I will try do delte and reinstall the whole program.

Hi MrBusiness,
Make sure IE is closed and stopped.
Then open our Viewer and go to Edit -> Preferences -> File associations, and check the "Display in Browser" box.
Hit the Apply key, and close the Viewer.
Now start IE and try to open e.g. this:
http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf
For this to work ,you should have selected to install the browser add-ins when you reinstalled our Viewer, e.g. by selecting "Full Install".
Best,
Stefan

Re: Set as default pdf viewer in IE 10
Thank you, now it opens pdf files inside the browser with XChange-Viewer, which is an improvement.
But in the past it would open them in the programm itself like offline files.

Re: Set as default pdf viewer in IE 10
Hi MrBusiness,
I assumed that's the behaviour you are after!
If you want IE to download files instead of opening them in the browser directly - then you will need to disable all PDF previewing add-ins (including our Viewer's and Adobe's), and then set our PDF XChange Viewer as the default application for handling PDFs in general (via Edit -> Preferences -> File Associations -> Make Default).
Then IE will download the files for you and ask you for an action to take - and if you select to open the file - it should be loaded in our stand alone Viewer.
Best,
Stefan
