Text editing creates a chinese(?) textfont
I have a PDF, one page, one image, color background, some words with Arial and Verdana.
When I try to edit the text it becomes "selected" and changes the font to something strange. "Cancel" the editing restores the previous status, but when I enter a single character the text-font changes.
See screenshots in attachment.
Is there somewhere a setting / option / preference for Fonts and/or Codepages?
Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the post - could you please archive the file and upload it to us here? I suspect that this maybe an issue with fonts, but I won't be able to tell without looking.
Cheers, let me know!

It is rather private so I don't want to upload it here. Will - Tracker Supp wrote:...archive the file and upload it to us here? ....

Hi Peter,
Is it something that you could send us via email, that way it's not made public?
support@pdf-xchange.com
If you can't send it at all, then I'm afraid that the only other suggestion that I could make, would be to re-create the document from the source file and explicitly set the options to embed all used fonts.
Cheers,
Will

Hi Peter,
Thanks for waiting - I believe that this is a fonts issue. Could you please try re-creating the document from the source file and please make sure to embed all used fonts?
Let me know how this works out!

Re: Text editing creates a chinese(?) textfont
Hi Will
I have only the PDF and no change to recreate it from source. What I would like to know - the fonts seem to be OK in the first file, and the result is a chinese(?) font. Why? Problem of the file or problem of the Editor?

Re: Text editing creates a chinese(?) textfont
Hi Peter,
The information needed for being able to render the font, and to actually add new characters is different, and one might be included in the file but not the other which will display the file correctly, but trying to edit it causes problems.
It's similar to what was common in the Viewer - you could see the text fine but selecting and copying this text produced garbled result.
I could not find the e-mail with the sample file, but please try e.g. selecting text from that file with our and other PDF Viewers - and see if you can copy text to e.g. Notepad correctly. If you can't then it's a file issue and not an Editor one.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Text editing creates a chinese(?) textfont
Thanks, I tried now with XChange Viewer, XChange Editor and Adobe Reader 11, all under Win7.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:.... selecting text from that file with our and other PDF Viewers - and see if you can copy text to e.g. Notepad correctly. Everywhere the same result:
Strange, unreadable characters

So it seems to be a file-issue. Thanks for the help.
