File Information balloon
Hi, I've made PDFXchange my default programs for PDFs ... love it! When I used Adobe as my default PDF program I could hover over the file name in Windows Explorer and see (among other things) the date and time that the PDF was created. Now that PDF-XChange Viewer is my default program, the pop up does not show the date/time. I work with lots of PDFs and frequently have to attach PDFs to email. To be able to see the date in that pop up balloon would be awesome. Is there a way to assign what file details appear in that pop up balloon? I'm running Windows 7 and PDFXCHANGE VIEWER v 2.5 (Build 210.0). Thanks for your help!

Hi beekay,
Thanks for the post - I could be wrong here, and will have to get the Devs to confirm this as soon as they're online, but I believe that it should be doing this automatically.
Cheers, one of us will post back with further info., as soon as we know more.

Re: File Information balloon
Hi beekay,
Thanks for waiting, could you please try running the following through the Command Prompt?
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\Shell Extension\XCShInfo.dll"
It appears that the issue is with the Shell Extensions, not the Viewer, so it may be that the Shell Extensions need to be re-registered.
Cheers, let me know how this goes!

Hi Beekay,
make sure that when you launch the command prompt you do so as Administrator. Usually this means a right click on the Command Prompt icon and "Run As Administrator".
Once you have the Administrator command prompt simply copy/paste the command Will gave you - including the quotation marks
Actually - use this one - there was a typo in Will's one:
it should look like this when done:

Hope that helps

Re: File Information balloon
Hi Paul,
I ran the command string as you suggested and got the "success" message as well! Thank you!. I still get the same information, though. So I wonder if maybe I wasn't clear in my initial question. If so, my apologies. I get the pop up balloon when I hover over a .pdf filename, however the information in that balloon does not include the date or time the file was created. It shows the program it was created by, how many pages it is, and the file size. Is there any way to make that pop up balloon display the date (and time) the pdf file was created? Many thanks ~ Barb

Re: File Information balloon
Hi Barb,
I don't know to be honest. I suspect not with our Shell Extensions. To return the Shell Extensions to how they were I suggest you install Adobe again and let it take over everything, then install our Viewer again and make sure you de-select Shell Extensions in the set up. That will put our software on there, you can make it the default by using Edit --> Preferences --> File Associations and clicking the button to make it default but as long as you left the Shell Extensions out of our ibnstall process Explorer will use Adobe's and you'll see what you used to see.
I hope that helps.
Sincerely

Paul, thanks so much for your suggestions. Not sure that I can get the date back or not, but either way it's a great little program and I'm happy to have found it. Thanks again.
Best regards,
Barb
