Show positions of Guides
I use guides to work with a technical drawing. I want to subdivide that space in between two guides that are not close to each other. For this it would be nice to be able to specify guide positions by entering numbers. Also I miss the possibility to edit existing guides. Does this not exist or did I not search closely enough?

Re: Show positions of Guides
Hello gentlesea,
Welcome to our forums!
Please open the Viewer and turn on the rulers (Ctrl-R).
From there you could drag new guides with your mouse.
Now go to Edit -> Preferences -> Measurement, and turn on the snapping options.
This should now allow you to drag the various guides across the page - and they would snap to the rules positions.
Please take a look at this KB article which while not exactly on the topic shows the rules and a couple of guides aligned at the 1 and 3 cm marks on the page:

Re: Show positions of Guides
Thank you for your answer. I was aware of that. I want to make a suggestion to have a dialog in an upcoming version where one can edit positions of the guides that one has set by modifying numbers. Also I am wondering why guides alone do not count as a saving reason. Whenever I want to structure my document by adding guides and then saving it no guides are saved. When I add a polygon e.g. guides and the polygon are saved. Please change this in a future version.

Re: Show positions of Guides
Hi gentlesea,
Guides only are not saved as they are not actually part of the document. You do not modify the actual file, and if you open it in another PDF viewng application those guides won't be there. The "save" activates because of the Polygon and not because of the guides. The Viewer then "stores the session" - and preserves the guides as well - but only as long as this file is in your recent list, and these guides will still not be present on another machine.
As for the suggestion for manual input of coordinates for those guides - I will pass it to our devs but am making no promises as to whether it would be accepted.
Regards,
Stefan
