About release notes and the News section

Post by vivadavid »

Hello,

I've just found in the Downloads section, by chance, a new version of the Editor, and as usual, I can't find the release notes, though I know that, in the past, it's been available a few days after the release. I'd like to make a few points:

1. It'd be more practical if, as you make a new version available, you also update the News section, for informative purposes.
2. Also, I think it's essential to publish the release notes at the same time, or otherwise, the user has no idea what's new or what's been fixed.
3. Personally, I never know where to find the release note once it's available. I used to go to the left menu of the index page, but its place, in my opinion, would be the Download notes.

These are just some suggestions. My apologies if the release note is already available and I couldn't find it.

Thanks,

David

Hello David,

Thanks for the suggestions. We will have them in mind. However the Editor is not yet officially released and as such it doesn't have it's own release notes yet. You are correct that the link to these notes was on th eleft under the product's box, and it is still there for the Viewer and Drivers.

Best,
Stefan

Hello, Stefan,

I understand these reasons, but this situation is a bit frustrating; for example, when I downloaded the lastest version last Satuday, I had no idea what the changes were, so I couldn't test them (I only know that PDF /A files are still not supported for annotation, and neither are annotation styles).

Is there a place where I can find this information?

Thanks! :-)

Hi David,

I appreciate your frustration. This is something that we have discussed frequently here and to date have not come up with a solution to have a more timely posting of the change log. I am sure that we'll get this process changed such that it is faster, however do understand that, as Stefan suggested, until it is officially released there will be no published change logs for the Editor.
