Hidden layer in a document without layers?
Hi,
A bit of an odd question. I have opened a pdf document using Xchange viewer pro 2.5 build 211.0) and whilst it is rendering the cad drawing I see a flash of some text which is then immediately overlaid and disappears.
As I zoom in and out I can see the text flash up and disappear. This has piqued my interest and would like to see what this text is. Is there a way to make this text appear, I have looked at the layers tab and the drawing does not have any layers so I guess it is something to do with the z order.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Colin

Re: Hidden layer in a document without layers?
Hi Colin,
Using our PDF-X Editor and the Edit content tool you should be able to move the objects hiding that text, however that text was most likely hidden on purpose.
And you are correct that objects could be "on top of one another" and still be in the same (or only) layer of a PDF document.
Regards,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan - that worked a treat,
As an aside I am getting to grips with Editor, I work a lot with dimensions and in viewer pro I could set up a number of different scales and click on the one I need for a particular drawing. Can I do that for editor?

Hi RedSharpEye,
Were you doing this by saving different "styles" for the measuring tool?
Styles are not yet available in the Editor but should be very soon, and using the same dimension tool you can still change the scale - just as you could do in the Viewer using the properties toolbar.
Regards,
Stefan

Yes, styles is what I was referring to. Saves a lot of trouble. I suppose flip line doesn't work yet either.

Hi RedSharpEye,
Flip line does work already (just tested in in build 303) and as for styles - they should be available in a future build.
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Hidden layer in a document without layers?
Aha - updated to 303 and flip line is available - but did not work the same way as PDF Viewer.
In pdf viewer when the flip line command is used on a dimension line the text is flipped, in editor the same command flips the orientation of the line as well which then puts the line in the wrong place.
All I need is the text to be flipped, is there a way to do that?

Hi Colin,
In the Editor you can click the text and just "drag it around" to the position you like - which includes the other side of the measurement line as well.
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Hidden layer in a document without layers?
Yes, but it does not flip the text, if you draw a dimension line left to right the text is produced upside down, right to left and the text is the right way around, however there are circumstances when you cannot draw left to right.
So how do you turn upside down dimension line text the right way up?
In viewer the flip line only flipped the text, it did not move it to the other side of the line as you can do that by dragging the text.

Hi Colin,
Using Flip line and then dragging the text on the other side would do the trick but I will try to check if there are any plans to change this behaviour.

Stefan

Hi Stefan
I will keep my fingers crossed that the behaviour is corrected soon.
Cheers
Colin
Then once you have done that you would then need to drag the line back to where you first wanted it. A bit of a kludge I'm afraid.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:Hi Colin,Using Flip line and then dragging the text on the other side would do the trick
