Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
When I print a (confidential) PDF file with PDF-XChange Viewer build 211, whitespace character " " appears on paper as a character similar to Unicode WHITE VERTICAL RECTANGLE. Adobe Reader XI is able to print the whitespace as expected.

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Hello huusa,
Please try our PDF-X Editor:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/pdf-xchange-editor
As it has a totally different printing engine.
If the issue still persists - please do try the "print as images" option in the Viewer/Editor and your file would be printed just as it appears on screen.
Regards,
Stefan

PDF Editor 300: worse than Viewer 211
PDF Editor 303: same as Viewer 211
Viewer 211 print as image: works

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Hello huusa,
In that case we would need you to send us a sample file, as well as information for your printer's make, model and drivers used (ideally via the Help -> Report a problem in the Viewer/Editor) with a link back to this forum topic so that we could take a further look into this. Any files you send to us via e-mail would be treated with all the confidentiality needed and only used for testing purposes, and then removed from all our servers once testing is complete.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
I tried to "Report a Problem..." but after I clicked "Next...", nothing seemed to happen, the Report a Problem window just disappeared. Did you get the report?

Hello huusa,
Your mail client should open and you should hit the "Send" button for us to actually receive the report. I also checked the e-mail to which all those reports arrive and could not fine any sent from a3208201@jnxjn.com so I'd assume you didn't manage to send it. Please do try once again and make sure you have a default MAPI client selected as well.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
It seems I have to report a problem with "Report a Problem..."
I would like to use Microsoft Outlook 2007 to send mail, I checked "Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar." However, I still do not get any response from Outlook when I click Next... in the Report a Problem window.

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Hi huusa,
Can you please check whether you have a "Default Proframs..." button next to that checkbox for "making Outlook the default program for ..." and click it?
There as the last entry on the list should be "MAPI" - please check whether that has been enabled?

Stefan

Hi huusa,
I only have office 2010 here on my machine - and this is the button I am referring to.
What are the options shown when you click the "Advanced options..." button from your screenshot?
Regards,
Stefan

No pertinent options there, screenshot attached. There is another default programs configuration interface in Control Panel, Set Program Access and Defaults, in which I have selected Custom and Microsoft Office Outlook.

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Hi huusa,
Thanks for the shot, but I don't have office 2007 and this is not the main problem in this topic - so could you please install e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird and set it as the default mail client temporarily so that you can send us your report, and then uninstall it and let Outlook be the mail client once again?
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
I tried with Thunderbird as default mail client, no response to Next... button either. Should I create a new topic for this "Report a Problem" problem, and maybe these posts should be moved there?

Hi huusa,
And if you try to "mail" from another application - does that work correctly and launch your Outlook/TB?

Stefan

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Most applications are able to launch a mail client, some also create a new mail message and open it for editing. For example IE opens a new mail in which there is a HTML link to the web page when I click Send Link by Email.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:And if you try to "mail" from another application - does that work correctly and launch your Outlook/TB?

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Hi huusa,
I've asked a colleague to check this topic as well - and we are still not sure why this is happening on your machine.
Please try to use the Help -> Report a problem feature, but this time from inside the Editor.
And we've released build 304 of the Editor yesterday - so could you try updating and printing through it as well?
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Viewer 211 prints whitespace as rectangle characters
Thanks huusa,
I've spoken with the lead dev, and he confirmed that the original problem with the white rectangles is a known one, and has requested me to make a ticket. Could you please e-mail us a sample PDF file which illustrates the problem, and we will take it from there on.
As for the issue with "Report a problem" not working - we would need to connect to your machine remotely to check what exactly is preventing this feature from working. If you agree with such a connection - please take a look at this KB article for the steps needed to give us access to your machine:

PDF file emailed to support address.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:Could you please e-mail us a sample PDF file which illustrates the problem, and we will take it from there on.
I would very much like that, however at this time I believe "Report a Problem" is not necessary so I think that I will decline and consider this matter resolved on my part. Thanks for the support.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:As for the issue with "Report a problem" not working - we would need to connect to your machine remotely to check what exactly is preventing this feature from working.
