Font hell

Post by chuzz »

High , love the viewer it's great.
OK here;s my problem, I generated a pdf in another application and pdf xchange is the only viewer that displays the correct fonts (eg 'Laffayette' installed on my system).
The original program has no options to 'embed' or bake that font in any way ( it is a specialist storyboarding software).
SO, is there any product in trackers raft of product that will let me alter the pdf so the font displayed in the viewer will be seen just as it does there on other machines or in other software?

If so can you tell me EXACTLY how to do that so I may test this before I spend any money as you have no refund and very limited documentation on this matter as I have downloaded a bunch of trials , scoured the help and the forums and found nothing that actually works .... yet :) :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
Please help

Hello chuzz,

Glad to hear that our Viewer displays your files correctly!
Unfortunately there's no way to embed fonts in an already generated document (at least not using non-programmer tools).

However if you "reprint" such a file through our Viewer, and in the print preview window under Advanced select to "Print text as curves: Always" - all text would be send to your "printer" as vector objects, and when the new PDF file is generated those curves would be font independent and would display the same in any PDF viewing application.

Regards,
Stefan

Hey Stephan thanks that does work a treat.
It's not perfect there are some little squares here and there but it is much better than not at all. Thanks very much for that explanation that explains the new pdf generation with the embedded font :)

Hi chuzz,

Glad I could assist. Please also try the new PDF-X Editor:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... nge-editor
As this might solve the issue with the squares.

Also please note that such "reprinting" actually removes the text data from the file, and you will no longer be able to select or search this text.

Regards,
Stefan
