Problem about run pdfxcviewer with command line

Post by qualsjack »

I tried to run pdfxcviwer to print a pdf report from a php web server with command line without display ui. If apache is running as a service pdfxcviewer won't run at all. If apache is running on desktop, then it works perfectly. I wonder since pdfxcviewer run in silent mode, why it cannot be executed by a service? Or there are somethings I didn't do right. Would be there someone can give me an idea. Thank you very much!

Hello qualsjack,

And welcome to our forums.
Just to make sure - it is the End user Viewer you are using and it is installed locally on your machine but you are trying to call it from a service?

Regards,
Stefan

I'm going to execute pdfxcviewer from a php web server to print pdf to a printer by using php exec($command_line). Pdfxcviewer won't work unless web server, apache, is running on desktop. The most time apache is running as a Windows services. I just wonder since i have pdfxcviewer run in no-display mode, why it won't run in background? Thank you so much for prompt reply!

Hi qualsjack

when you call the Viewer from Apache running as a service there are restriction. PDF-XChange Viewer will not function this way. This is by design and will not change. Try the same with MS Word, you will see similar results.

What you should be looking at is the Simple DLL Viewer SDK. https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/pdf ... le-dll-sdk With that you can build a very simple app to render your PDF in the back ground for printing. It is designed to do exactly what it seems you have described.
