Hi,
we have the following problems concerning mostly on the printing of PDF-files. I put some cropped screen captures from these situations/documents in to the attachment to illustrate the problems.
Problem 1:
When we watch some PDF-documents (that are originally made with MS Word 2010) in our company on PDF Viewer, they look perfectly normal = as we made them with MS Word. But when we sent one of these documents to a printing company and they open the document on their computer, all the fonts have altered = basically the document doesn't look the same nomore.
They said at the printing company that it might have something to do with the fact that the fonts should be embedded or something like that (?). We didn't quite get that what they ment by that.
So do you know, why this problem happens and how can we fix it?
Problem 2:
If we look at the Problem 2 / Example 1 in the attachment, we can see that the red dotted line (which was added afterwards to a CAD-drawing with a XChange Viewer tool) is fine = small dots. This is a direct screen capture from the original PDF-file.
But if we take a look at the Example 2 of the same problem we see that the dotted line has become somehow distorted. That example on the other hand, is a screen capture from a scanned version of the printed version of the same document.
We also noticed that the same problem repeats if we try to print this with a another machine, so I find it highly unlikely to be because of the printer.
So do you know, why this problem happens and how can we fix it?
Problem 3:
This problem is basically the same as in problem 2. However the big difference is, that this time the green line is already made with the original program which is in this case "Adobe InDesign". Nothing was added later on in the document with XChange Viewer. The curious thing here is that all the other graphics in this document are made with the same program (and they atleast appear to look the same with these green dottes lines). But only these dotted lines have become distorted / the dots are missing when we print this document. Otherwise the document looks perfectly fine.
This printing problem is demostrated in the attachment as "Problem 3".
So once more: do you know, why this problem happens and how can we fix it? Is it someho related to the second problem?
Inform me if you need bigger screen captures from these documents to solve these problems and then we perhaps sent the orinal documents to you somehow privately.
Thanks for your time!

Re: Three problems related to printing of PDF-files
Hello Constructor,
Welcome to our forums and thanks for your detailed explanations and samples.
Your first problem originates in the tool that created the PDF document. It didn't embed the fonts inside the file, so when you open and try to see the file our PDF Viewer (and other applications capable of opening PDF files) will search the windows/fonts folder and try to find the same font that is needed. If they can't - a substitute would be used. It works on your machines as both Word and our Viewer have access to the same fonts, but the printing company doesn't. Please take a look at the Word PDF Creation options and check whether you can force it to embed all used fonts, and if it can't - then you will need to use something else to generate these PDFs. I would recommend you our Standard printing drivers:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... e-standard
As you can make the necessary changes related to font embedding and the standard package will also install a MS Office Add-in that will allow you to convert Office documents to PDF quickly and easily and with a lot more features preserved than if using File-> Print.
For your second and third problem - please try to download and use our new PDF-X Editor:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... nge-editor
It is the successor of the Viewer, and it's printing engine is totally different and should produce better results. Also check the printers DPI settings and make sure that a sufficiently high DPI is used (300, 600 or more).
If the problem does not disappear, then please also try the "print as images" checkbox in the Viewer/Editor and this should resolve the problem.
Regards,
Stefan
