How do I get my annotated notes back?
I annotated my PDF project with text and picture for months.
Today, I pressed Ctrl+Shift+Zero and all my work is gone.
Is there any way I can recover my notes.
They took months of hard work & are very very important.
The "Undo" is not available.
Please help.
TIA

Hello rbaboo,
If you have not yet saved the document - use "Save As..." and save this comment-less copy under a new name - this should allow you to get your file with comments unchanged from a few hours ago with all your annotations back in it. Alternatively - check for a backed up version of the same file, or maybe an e-mail in which you've sent it a few days ago with just the last few days of comments missing from it.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: How do I get my annotated notes back?
Thanks Stefan.
Unfortunately, I saved the file since I was trying to edit some typewritten text.
Also, I did not back up the file in any way.
I was wondering why everything vanished despite saving the file multiple times in the past just by doing Ctrl+Shift+Zero ?
Is there anything which can be done to recover my notes at all?

Hi rbaboo,
After saving the file - I am afraid not much! And why this happened I can only guess is it certainly should not be happening.
Any chance that you've exported the comments from this file into an .fdf / .xfdf?
Also what does Ctrl-Shift-0 do for you? It doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Regards,
Stefan

I am not sure it was Ctrl-Shift-0 but I was trying to use the shortcut for "Subscript" .Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote:Hi rbaboo,

Maybe I pressed some other number after Ctrl-Shift-?
What I was wondering is if we can figure out which keyboard shortcut did it then maybe we can figure out which keyboard shortcut can undo it?
Is it possible or just wishful thinking on my part?
I am just trying to find the reason so that at least it doesn't happen again?
I am trying to get at the bottom of this problem as to why would anything would cause everything vanish after the file has been saved multiple times. I mean that's exactly is happening now, I can not do anything now to recover my work since the file has been saved?
Ironically, I was going to buy the pro version today but I am not sure anymore.

Re: How do I get my annotated notes back?
I was thinking about the possibility to make the comments hidden (via Comments > Show Comments > Hide All Comments // CTRL + SHIFT + !), but every time I re-open the PDF the comments are there again.
I suppose there is no way to hide comments permanently...
I was also thinking about a way to remove all comments with one single keystroke combination.
It seems not to be possible...
I also wonder that someone would do a File > Save, knowing that there is something seriously wrong with his document...
So...
1) Does it show the comments when clicking Comments > Show Comments > Show All Comments, or when clicking Comments > Show Comments List... then there is panel shown at the left site of the window... do you see some content or is it really empty ?
2) Do you have the same phenomenon when opening the PDF in Adobe Reader ?

I got everything back by using your trick. Great
It looks like there is a way to remove all comments with one single keystroke combination.
I am glad that you resolved my issue when tracker support could not. Much appreciated.

Re: How do I get my annotated notes back?
Hi guys,
Willy - all good points. If the comments have really been deleted, then they will not show under the Comments Pane or the Content Pane, so can you please check there and also see if Adobe displays the same behaviour, as Willy suggested?
Cheers,
