highlight image PDF

Post by namsilat »

I have something that's scanned as an image into PDF format, and I like to apply marker of different color free-hand to the PDF. Is that possible with PDF-XChange Viewer?

Hi namsilat,

Thanks for the post - you should be able to this in the Viewer by first OCRing the document (Document --> OCR Pages).

Thank you.

Thanks for your speedy response. I tried OCR option and encountered two problems. First problem is that after doing OCR, when I tried to select a specific area of text to highlight, somehow random areas of text above and below it also became highlighted at the same time. Second problem is the scanned image is not perfectly aligned, such that some of the text are somewhat "diagonal", but the highlight is only horizontal. I think I need some sort of "free-hand" marker that would allow me to highlight without restriction to direction or area, so I would appreciate any suggestion.

Hi namsilat,

Not a problem :)

I believe that the first problem is also related to the fact the image is slightly diagonal, which would confuse most (if not all) OCR programs available.

As far as a freehand highlight goes, the highlight tool will not specifically allow for this, but this can be done with the Pencil tool, by setting a thicker pixel width and changing the Blend Mode to Multiply.
