Powerpoint: Embeded PDF can not be opened

Post by Peter2 »

I got a Powerpoint 2010 -file (PPTX) where some PDFs are embedded. When the author (Win 7 x64) of the file double-clicked on the PDF-icons the PDF opened in his Adobe reader.

When I (Win 7 x64) double-click on the icon, I get the message (translated from German)
The server-application, the source-file or the element was not found or an unknown error was reported. Eventually install the server-application again.
In an Office-forum I found a recommendation to modify an option in Adobe Reader.

Could it be a wrong setting in the Viewer too?

(BTW: Yes, the files are really embedded in the PPTX. I could extract them.)

Hi Peter,

I believe the way Office embeds files is very specific, and then when you double click such a file - it is looking for a particular application - in your case Adobe's reader, and there's no way to make the files open in our Viewer/Editor, unless you extract them first (for which you will probably need Adobe installed as well).

Regards,
Stefan
