Optimize for Web-download ???

A maybe simple question, but my knowledge and memories to this issue is very low.

In past times of slow network speed it was important to "optimize a file for web-download". It was that stuff that the software on PC could already start to display the file although it was not completely downloaded. So my question is:

- What's the correct name of this?
- Is it (was it?) also important for PDF?
- Is it implemented in PDF Driver 5?

In Adobe Acrobat's UI it is named 'Fast Web View'. In the specification, a specilally constructed PDF that allows rendering of some parts of a PDF without having entire file, is called a Linearized PDF.

- Is it (was it?) also important for PDF?

It depends on the user and size of the PDF file itself.

- Is it implemented in PDF Driver 5?

PDF-XChange products cannot create Linearized PDF files.
And also, PDF-XChange requires the entire file to work with, so, even if file is linearized, we do not use this feature.
