Error Message when signing digitally

Hi,
my computer recently developed a problem with my office software, and at the same time, I started getting an error message when signing a PDF:

Window Title: "Signing Document"
Window Text: "Timestamp generation failure:
Error [Cryptolib]: Invalid argument
Digital Signature will contain NO Timestamp".

The document saves OK, but contrary to the error message DOES include a timestamp

Could you try signing a document, using this signature, with another PDF Reader/Editor and let me know if you're experiencing the same issue?

Using a product from an unnamed competitor, the signature works fine with no message.

Thanks for waiting - could you please try signing a document and, when the dialogue for the signature appears, could you select the "Manage..." button beside the "Use Timestamp Server:" option and send a screen-shot of the settings that you have there?

Thanks for that - the server being used is actually not a recognized server for timestamping digital signatures, that server is purely for syncing the reported time on the local PC. You will need to find a trusted timestamp server (defined under RFC 3161) in order to properly timestamp documents.

I read up on this and I guess you're right. However, I have no recollection of changing any option here and previously did not receive an error message. So did maybe your software previously not announce an error if the timestamp server was set incorrectly?

Yes before if the server was incorrect - timestamping of the document would have just not been applied.
