I have had issues with poor display of PDFs from CAD drawings that have fine lines. The fine lines tend to disappear unless you zoom in a significant amount. The one I have problems with at the moment, are actually poor quality PDF (I don't know the original source) that have a great deal of pixelation. So, they aren't good to begin with.
When I view the PDF drawing in Adobe, it is much easier to read and see the details, without having to zoom in as much. I have attached one of the drawings as an example.
Are there any settings in PDF-Xchange's viewer, that will improve the display of this sort of drawing?
Thanks,
-Joe

Hello Joe,
Welcome to our forums.
Please download and try the Viewer's successor - the PDF XChange Editor:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... nge-editor
And there should be a significant improvement.
Regards,
Stefan

In PDF-XChange Viewer, via Edit > Preferences > Rendering, the parameter "Smooth images" should be checked/activated.
In Adobe Reader, via Edit > Preferences > Page Display, this same parameter "Smooth images" should be checked.
PDF-XChange Editor, does not (actually) have such a parameter.
Eventhough the "smoothing" of images seems to be ON in the Editor.

Thanks for the input Willy - always appreciated.
You are right - Image smoothing is on by default in the Editor and there is a similar 'On/Off' option coming in the Editor at some later date with many more options later - but for now it was more pragmatic to set on by default than not.
thanks

We do not learn much with these kind of answers.
What was the release and build number of that older version ?
Was it PDF-XChange Viewer or was it PDF-XChange Editor, and what is it now ?
If it now is the Viewer, then still the question: is the "Smooth images" parameter ON or OFF ?

Re: Poor display of fine lines - any settings to improve?
The program was the Free PDF Viewer. I am sorry, but I no longer have the older version installed, so I can't say which is was.
However, regardless, in the new version, I did need to turn on the smoothing function for the best display, since it was off. Note that when I installed the new version, all my tool-bars remembered their settings, so it is possible that the smoothing setting was also remembered from the older version.
