Prevent Excel asking okay to open PDF using xchange viewer?

Post by delaing »

What do I need to turn on/off in MS Office so that Excel will stop asking me if I really want to open the PDF (via a link on the spreadsheet) in PDF Xchange Viewer?

I finally figured out, I believe, how to once again force PDF's to open in Viewer through Excel links. Previously I had this working just fine, then something did a switcheroo in my system and PDfs started opening in Acrobat off the Excel links.
Everywhere else in my system, PDFs open directly in Viewer and Browser/Viewer just fine.

No, I cannot uninstall Acrobat at this time; needed for other operations.

So, what do I need to do so the PDF will open straight away in Viewer when clicking my link in Excel - without it asking me 'are you sure"?

Thank you,
Delain

Hi Delain,

Hopefully I'm not misunderstanding, but I believe that this is an option in Excel. Please see this link:

Will,

Thanks for the attempt, but this did not solve the problem. My registry was already set to disable the warning message per the 'fix it yourself' how-to instructions. The 'editflag' key does not exist in my Win7 system for whatever reason. And the File Types tab is not available in my Folder Options for Win7, so I cannot get to the Advanced dialog suggested in the guide.

Let me know if you come across anything else that might offer a solution.

Thank you,
Delain

Hi Delain,

I'm afraid that given that this isn't an issue with our software but is an issue with MS Excel, we cannot provide further assistance on this. I'm afraid that you would need to contact Microsoft regarding this problem.

Thanks,
