I am trying to install PDF XChange Viewer on a very old PC with Windows XP Pro and an Athlon XP CPU.
The installation from both the EXE and the MSI x86 for the latest and previous versions ends abruptly without error details.
I am attaching here the install log from the following command
I had similar problems with other programs and they are almost invariably due to the lack of support for SSE2 by the above mentioned CPU; the version history does not mention any such issue though.
I confirm that version 2.5.206.0 installs correctly on the above mentioned PC.
If this be the case, could you please let me know where I can download the latest version not requiring SSE2 support?
I am not aware of any particular build that introduced those changes, but here you can find all older builds: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/history ... istory.xml
(Please open the link in IE, as other browsers might not render the download links for each build)
And check if builds later than 206, but older than 214.2 will work for that old CPU.
Thanks for the post and sorry to hear that you are having issues - this was a known issue and I was given to understand that work was done to correct/workaround the issue. I will pass this along to the Dev. Team for investigation, to see if there's anything that we can do.
I have successfully installed version 2.5.214.1 as suggested by Stefan and for the moment I am fine with that.
I am trying again to attach the log file which was missing from my initial post for your reference.
what is the issue preventing you from uploading the log file? Is it simply the forum software blocking you (in which case wrap the log file up in a zip archive first then upload) or is it actually getting the install to log?
