Use PDF-Viewer, not plugin for Chrome
The PDF-XChange Viewer plugin works just fine for me in Chrome, opening a new tab to view the document. However, what I want to happen when I click on a PDF link, I want it to open in PDF-XChange Viewer as an external application instead. How do I do this?

Hello bw00ds,
This would be Chrome specific and not related to our product or any other PDF preview handler you have installed. I found this discussion after a few seconds searching and I hope it will help you:

Re: Use PDF-Viewer, not plugin for Chrome
Thanks, Stefan. The article was very helpful and it worked. It worked in two ways, actually. It solved the problem that I was asking about. It also made me realize that in the bottom right corner of the browser window is the icon for PDF-XChange and clicking on it opens the PDF externally. I noticed that for whatever reason, with the solution to have it open all the time externally, it takes a long time to download the document. Left as it is with the PDF-XChange plugin enabled, the PDF document opens immediately. I now have the best of both worlds as then I can chose to open it externally if I want by just clicking on the PDF-XChange icon in the corner.
This has been bugging me for years. I appreciate your help!

Re: Use PDF-Viewer, not plugin for Chrome
Hello bw00ds,
Glad that it was useful.
And yes - if you turn off the plug-ins inside chrome, you will need to download the file before you can see it. The same applies when you open the file inside the browser - but the download then happens before you see the PDF inside chrome. Then when you click to view it in the stand alone Viewer/Editor - the file is already downloaded so it opens instantly.
Regards,
Stefan
