I'd like to resolve a problem I'm having with creating links to open a new file.
After the link is setup and is working properly, the PDF document is then saved with the functional links.
If the location of the PDF document is changed, the path to all the links within the PDF Document also changes to the same path as the relocated PDF Document.
Example:
Original document is called Test.pdf, and is located under C:\temp\
Created a link within Test.pdf to an Excel spreadsheet called Schedule.xlsx located under a network drive F:\Spreadsheets\ (therefore the path and file name for the link would be F:\Spreasdsheets\Schedule.xlsx).
Saved Test.pdf and tested the link which works properly and opens Excel and the Schedule.xlsx file.
Later moved Test.pdf to another network drive P:\Reference\.
Path to Schedule.xlsx for Link within Test.pdf has changed to P:\Reference (essentially the link has changed to P:\Reference\Schedule.xlsx).
How can the links be created such that the links are retained when PDF document containing the links is moved to another location?

Re: Link Tool - Open a File - How to retain path to file?
Just to clarify - the path of the PDF and the path to Schedule.xlsx have both changed ?
It is the latter that will be critical rather than the PDF ...

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.
