scrolling through documents up and down instead of left to r

Post by chemperion gmbh »

Hi, in the 2.x version one could use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down a document. E.g. I would have to pages left and right of each other and then use mouse wheel to scroll up and down. This worked fine, even when the 2 pages did not fully fit to the screen (so the vertical and horizontal scroll bars where also shown).

I upgraded to pdf Editor 5.5. but documents can only scroll from left to right. When a page doesn't fit complete on one screen, then by using the mouse wheel or pgup/dwn keys one goes a bit up and down on the same page but not to the next page. One notebooks one often has the document zoomed-in in a way that one sees all the text but not the white borders. But because the used-to scrolling (wheel or pgup/dwn keys) is not scrolling through the document any more but just scrolls through the same page to the page area that one zoomed out from on purpose, the reading process became very cumbersome.

How to have the classical way of scrolling again?

Why not have the same way of scrolling like all the MS products have. This is what one is used to. Even the little page display icon (right bottum corner, with 1 page, 2 pages next to eachother or 2 or 4 pages above each other suggest another way of scrolling)
I find the product unusable this way and have installed adobe pdf reader again for normal reading and with this way of reading I would skip coming upgrades and buy an other product. Very disappointing.

I have looked through settings, manuals and forum but didn't find anything about this. If I have overlooked something then please help me out.

Thanks.

Hello chemperion gmbh,

Can you please go to the Main Menu -> View -> Page Layout - and make sure that "Standard Layout" is chosen. As when you have the Ribbon Layout - scrolling will be sideways indeed.

With Standard layout - the mouse wheel will scroll up/down, and with Shift pressed scrolling will be sideways (so that you can navigate all directions with joust the mouse wheel and one function key pressed by your other hand).

Regards,
Stefan

Finally!!
Many thanks, that did the job. In fact, when you hoover over the 2 layout options it gives the necessary information.

I will improve my hoover craft :-)

Hi Stefan,

I'm currently running Mac OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.4 with Parallel's Desktop 11 for Mac and Pdf Xchange Viewer Free Version 2.5 (Build 317.1)

I used to be able to scroll left of right on a zoomed in page while holding the shift key and rolling the mouse wheel but this seems not to be working anymore.

This is particularly handy when I use the measuring tool for construction drawings but now it doesn't work anymore.

Can you please help with this?

Hi omri.roets,

Thanks for the post - we do not support the use of our software when run on MAC and, as this is working correctly on Windows operating systems, I'm afraid that there's nothing that we can do to help other than recommend that you make sure that you have the latest release of the Viewer:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVwer.zip

If that doesn't help, please try the Editor:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVE6.zip

If that doesn't help, then I'm afraid that there's nothing more that we can do.

Thanks,

No problem, sorry that we can't assist further but, without completely rebuilding the software to work on MAC, there's nothing that we can do.
