This is a bit lengthy, but I'll try to walk you through this:
I am using PDF Xchange Viewer Pro v2.5 (build 212). I have loved this product and it has worked very well for me for many years.
One of the features I make heavy use of is adding/inserting/deleting pages in pdf documents.
I am in the process of submitting a scientific manuscript with a pdf of the figures. Originally, the pdf had some pages of text along with pages with labeled figures (axis labels, for example).
If I upload that original pdf (that had the additional pages of text) and some other documents to the journal site, and ask it to send me a pdf summary of all the documents I've uploaded, everything looks fine, and all the pages with figures are properly labeled.
I didn't want the pages of text, so I opened the pdf on my computer using PDFXchange Viewer (2.5 build 212, with Pro license) and deleted the pages with text, leaving only the pages with figures (figures having axis labels, and text titling for Figure 1, Figure 2, etc...). I then saved this shortened file to my computer.
Now, if I upload the shortened document to the journal site, and *then* ask for a pdf summary of all documents, all look fine **except** the pages from the shortened pdf file, which have now lost all labeling of the figures (and the page text Figure 1, Figure 2, etc...).
PDF Xchange Viewer is doing something when I shorten the pdf that is causing loss of data when the journal site imports the pdf.
Now, here's a twist, If I *extract* the pages I want to a new pdf and then save it, *that* seems to upload and be rendered properly by the journal website.
I'm not sure why this happens, and I know you're discontinuing development of the Viewer program (which I've been a huge fan of for many years), but I thought you should know that the newest version of the PDF Editor v5.5.313.1 (which I downloaded to try thinking this may have been fixed in later versions...) *ALSO* has this same problem when pages are deleted to shorten the pdf file (I tried even though it watermarked the pages, and while the watermarks appeared, the figures were again stripped of their labeling.
So, something to look at with regards to shortening and saving pdf's, vs. extracting pages to a new file, I guess......
PDF figure file stripped of labeling after shortening...

Hi ran,
Thanks for the post - in order to test this here, we would either need a copy of the document and access to the journal site to test, or a remote session to look at why this might be. Please email support@pdf-xchange.com, with a link back to this topic for reference, and advise on your preferred troubleshooting method.
Cheers,

Re: PDF figure file stripped of labeling after shortening...
thanks for replying Will. Unfortunately, our data/manuscript are confidential and one needs an account to the journal website for performing these features.
So, I think it would be a lengthy process to do that, and I need to finish my edits and get this manuscript published...
I have something that works.... so I need to move on, but just thought you (Tracker) would want to know that the Editor does handle deleting/saving vs. extracting differently....

Hi Ran,
I'll pass this to the Dev. Team, but unfortunately, without access to the journal site, or without a remote session, there is likely nothing that we can do to fix the issue, as we have no way to debug and see what we are doing that would cause this.
