Units setting changes don't stick under reg. Windows account

Post by mach128x »

This seems like a bug.

Under my regular limited Windows account, changing Units under Preferences/Measurement from 'centimeters' to 'inches' would stick for the current instance. But the next time I would lunch the app it would always revert back to the default 'centimeters'.

It seems I have to start PDF-XChange Viewer as an administrator once and set the units, in order for the setting to stick on the next restart of the application under a regular/limited Windows account.

Thanks

Hi mach128x,

Thanks for the post - can you please advise on the build of the Viewer that you're using (found under Help --> About)?

Thanks,

Build 311.0 .

I did check the newer builds log for a sign of a bug fix before reporting this.
I didn't find anything so I figured I might as well report it.
Thanks

Hi mach128x,

"Remembering" that setting is stored in the registry, so yes you will need to have sufficient privileges to make changes there, but even a restricted account should have, as those are stored in the Current User section.
Instead of launching a separate Admin account, try holding down the shift key, and right click the Editor icon, then select the "Run as administrator" option. You will now be able to change the desired settings and when you close the program- the changed defaults will be saved.

Regards,
Stefan
