Hi,
PDF-XChange Viewer is a very powerful PDF viewer. I particularly appreciate the feature of opening a PDF without locking the file; using the -- albeit cumbersome -- command line call:
pdfxcview /A "nolock=yes=OpenParameters" test.pdf
(Why not put a checkbox "no file locking" in the open file GUI?)
This allows me to compile my Latex files into pdf without having to close the viewer each time.
Every time the pdf file is complied, PDF-XChange Viewer automatically reloads the file, which is extactly what I need.
However, after each reload, the standard zoom level and topmost scroll position is also restored. This is not practical, while I am working somewhere in the middle of a multi-page document.
Is there a way to maintain the zoom and scroll position upon these automatic reloads of unlocked files?
Thanks, Linus

Re: Don't reset zoom and scroll position upon automatic relo
I do not know if it might help you, but in PDF-XChange Viewer, via the Edit-menu > Preferences... > Page Display, you have check boxes for "Restore the last used view ..." and "Restore last used Layout and Zoom settings ...".
At my side, I activated these check boxes.
Then I opened a PDF (via the Viewer), I went to page 70. I changed the zoom level to 150% Then I closed the PDF.
When I re-open that PDF (via the Viewer), it opens at page 70, at a zoom level of 150% So, that is OK.
When I re-open that same PDF via a batch file with command-line, it works too.
You probably know that the Viewer has been replaced by the Editor and that there is no more development for the Viewer.
I checked the command-line switches for the Editor, but apparently there is no "NoLock" parameter ...

Re: Don't reset zoom and scroll position upon automatic relo
Thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately, checking the checkbox "Restore last used Layout and Zoom settings for pages from Recent List when opening" (in Version 2.5 Build 317.1 it is in fact only one checkbox) does only work for the cases you described. Upon automatic reloads due to changes in an unlocked opened file, the scroll position and zoom are still reset.
As you also said: for the PDF-XChange Editor, there does not even seem to be the nolock option...

Re: Don't reset zoom and scroll position upon automatic relo
Hi Linus,
as you say the Editor does not currently do this, open with out a lock, however it is in the pipe. There is a formal Feature Request for this: RT#3632: Fature Request : Editor to use /A "nolock=yes=OpenParameters" test.pdf The ticket is internal only but referring to this ticket will help any support staff get you an update.
I do not expect it in this upcoming build but a subsequent one, maybe around November.
Regards the zoom and page reset, unfortunately you would need to close the document for that to be saved. You could do that from the command line if needed, or the GUI, either way, if you do not close the PDF prior to rebuilding then your current zoom and page levels will be lost.
