Adding mutliple highlight shortcuts with separate colors
Hi, I used to use version 2 I think and just recently came back to the fold. Previously I had several Highlight buttons in my toolbar, each assigning a different highlight color. (I've forgotten how I did this)
Is this still possible in this version?

Hello kmkelmor,
Welcome to our forums, and thank you for your post! This is indeed possible in the latest version of our software (Editor V6.0 b319.0). You will find instructions on adding variations of a specific tool here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowle ... cific-Tool
I hope this helps!

Hello @all,
after reading the above, I just came back to ask whether this feature request as cited again below:
Thank you,

Hello Will,
thank you for your quick reply!
However, it seems that I referred to the wrong part of my above feature request. I was actually going to refer to part #2 (not 3) of the feature request
It seems however that this is still not possible, right?

Re: Adding mutliple highlight shortcuts with separate colors
Hello David,
Yes - this is still not possible, as this feature actually requires setting up a shortcut that will modify an existing highlight, rather than switch a tool - which is quite different and not something we have implemented. I will check the status of this on the next meeting, but can't promise if or when it might be implemented.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Adding mutliple highlight shortcuts with separate colors
OK thank you Stefan, for putting this on the meeting agenda!
All I can say that I am using this feature (as shown in the video -- of course adapted from Ad*be Acr*bat to PDF-XChange Editor in the meantime) like hundreds of times a day, and would be completely lost without it.
I am pretty sure that everyone who watches that video will agree that this is a killer feature

Therefore, many thanks already to the developers for possible consideration of this feature request!
Cheers

Edit, didn't want to disrupt the thread again
but just wanted to recall that in my view, it would be important that the changing of the color of an existing highlight can be assigned with the same hotkey that creates a new highlight of that color (i.e. "G" would always create a green highlight -- or change any existing highlight to green, if selected):

Hello David,
Saw your name in one of the post and came to check it out
I will see how hard is it and will see whether this can be done for this build.
Cheers,
Alex

Hello David,
This feature is now implemented and will be available for the next release. I will mention it's usage in the "New features" video.

Alex! You done it again! How awesome is that?
All three highlighter hotkey variants ('choose', 'create' and 'change') are there and working!
Can you guys please just take more of my money??? Thank you for this perfect implementation!
Cheers
David

Re: Adding mutliple highlight shortcuts with separate colors
Hello Sasha and forum,
after having used this awesome feature for a couple of days, there is only one tiny improvement that I would suggest.
Let's assume you are working on a PDF document with the highlighter tool, set to yellow:

You go on highlighting things here and there in your document. Occasionally you decide that one of the yellow highlights that you have made needs another color, say, green.
Now you simply click on that yellow highlight in order to select it, and press "G" on the keyboard (assuming that "G" is the hotkey that you have assigned to your green highlighter style in the Comment Styles Palette).
Instantly, the selected text highlight changes from yellow to green -- which is incredibly awesome and useful.
However at the same time, the highlighter tool's current color property is also automatically changed from yellow to green. This means that in order to carry on highlighting your text in yellow, you first have to change the tool's color back from green to yellow.
Therefore, my suggestion is that in case a highlight is selected and then its style is changed (by pressing the respective highlighter styles' toolbar button or keyboard hotkey), the style/color of the highlighter tool should not be changed as well.
Instead, the color/style of the highlighter tool ideally should only change (on selecting a highlighter style) if no highlight is currently selected.
Thanks very much already for consideration,
Keep up the great work
