Here is a common scenario: I scan in and OCR a document. Inevitably, some of the words will not be recognised accurately, particularly when the original is of poor quality or there are even characters missing. The image of the text looks fine on screen but you get problems when you search through affected text or copy/paste into another application. There must be way to edit the invisible text layer and manually correct these mistakes. This is crucial for when you want to use other software (eg NVivo) to process a PDF further (eg to code text for documentary analysis). AFAIK, no PDF editor does this and it would be extremely useful in certain situations.
To clarify, I am talking about the invisible layer that OCR adds. Copying text and pasting elsewhere would then produce accurate copies of the text. Otherwise, what you see on screen will remain the same.
