Select text will ONLY highlight text in vertical columns

I need help. I am working with PDFs right now in X Change Editor and whenever I try to select text, it will only select vertically. By that, I mean if I try to select or highlight a sentence, everything above and below the sentence will be highlighted as well. See attached PDF from a screenshot.

I've restarted. I've unplugged external monitor and equipment. I've uninstalled and reinstalled XChange Editor. I've rubbed my belly while patting my head. Nothing has helped.

I also checked and if I open a PDF in Adobe Reader, it does the same (only highlights vertically). So this issue is not isolated to XChange Editor. Can someone help?

I'm not seeing this here and we've had no other reports of this happening, so please make sure that you're using the latest release (Version 6 Build 321):

If that doesn't help, or if you're already using the latest release, please do send a sample as it's possible that PDF's you are working with all have something fundamental in common that none of our samples do.

At my opinion, chances are high that it goes about PDF's with scanned pages (images) where OCR (text recognition) has been applied. An example PDF-file would be welcome.

For a test, I have attached the PDF with the PDF-XChange Viewer/Editor license agreement.

Can you please check if you have a similar phenomenon with this one?
I would doubt about it, because the content is purely text (no images).
