I am running PDF Xchange Editor Plus version 7.0, build 327.0 on a windows 10 64-bit machine. Browser is Edge
When I have a web page open, I copy the url.
I open Xchange, select open from url and paste the copied address into the open box. The results are a very long, unformatted document containing what I guess to be the html coding for the page that is opened in Edge.
Is there a way to have the document opened as a pdf, and looking something similar to the web page being displayed in Edge?
thank you

Hi Dimitar
The issue is present for any web page, but here is one that shows the problem
https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/on-118_metric_e.html
I'm attaching a screenshot of the first screen's worth of what I see.

Re: Open from URL
Hello gwilki,
Your URL should be to the actual PDF file. If you try to open an html page like in your example - the Editor will capture the source code of that page, and work as if it has received a text file containing this source code - and create a file from it.
If you try with a link like e.g. this one:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDF_VE.pdf
Then it will load the PDF file directly in the Editor.
If you are trying to convert a web page to a PDF - then please try the IE add-in that comes with the Standard/Pro packages.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Open from URL
Tks, Stefan. Pardon my ignorance, but how do I access this add-in? I have pdf xchange editor plus. Does the add-in work with it?
I looked in the convert menu of editor plus, but I don't see any way to convert from html there.
Also, does the add in work with Edge or Firefox.
Tks

Re: Open from URL
Hello gwilki,
The Addin requires our Standard Printer to be installed and licensed, which I am afraid that a Plus license does not cover, however There is an instructional on how to activate it here if you decide to upgrade your license: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowle ... t-Explorer
Currently, it is not possible to enable the addin for firefox or edge, this is because their developers have opted to disallow most types of plugins for security reasons, rendering ours inert and unable to work with those browsers.
Converting from html works in one of two ways, you can use the open > from URL option you mentioned before, or alternatively, if you have the HTML saved as a file on your desktop, you can simply drag the file into the Editor window to have it convert to pdf automatically.

Re: Open from URL
Fortunately, the behavior of the command under discussion has changed, and now when it is used, it is not the web page code that gets into the document, but its rendering. Which, apparently, was what @gwilki expected.
