PDF-Xchange Viewer export/print zoomed page

Post by Eldad »

Hello,
Just got the viewer - thank you very much!

1. Would be great to have the possibility to print and/or export as image just a part of a zoomed (more than 100%) page.
This is very important when an electronic schematic or any complex drawing is condensed onto one page of a document and the details can be viewed only when enlarged. Printing this enlarged portion is of tremendous value and convenience. The Adobe reader does not do it, I hoped that yours can, or that you will include that in the near future.

I tried to do an Export - 'Current View' and still got an export of the whole page, not just the viewed portion.

2. Would be good to have the possibility of moving some of the tool bars to the same (top) row of the main tool bar (File Edit View...). The right part of it is all blank and a wasted screen space. Screen space would be saved If tool bars could be moved into that unused/wasted space.
Thanks, Eldad

Hi,

trying to export portions of CAD-to-pdf converted drawings, I run into the
same problem. I alwas get the entire pdf as an export and never the "current view".
Any news on this one ?

Best regards

Hi,

You cannot export just part of a page in the free version of the Viewer.

We will be offering the functionality required in the PRO version a little later this Spring - but not in its intial release. So for now the work around is to export the entire page to a suitable format and edit as required in your preferred image editing program

You can also use the Loupe Tool or the Snapshot Tool to copy the selected area to the clipboard.

The resolution can be set in preferences: Snapshot Tool, Used Fixed Resolution for Snapshot Tool.

Launch Irfan View with the Shortcut Target:

"C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" /clippaste

Then save your file in any format you wish.

I do not mind to purchase a pro version to get the desired result! What
puzzled me is, that I simply installed the viewer for now, that the option
"in speech" is available there, but does not work.
- if the option is not available for the simple viewer, then it should be at least greyed out
- if the option does not work for now, whether you use the viewer or the pro,
then it should be greyed out too.
- the workarounds are not of that much help, as exporting the entire pdf
can not be created in the desired resolution, due to (natural and accepted)
size limitations of those raster exports.

If I have more issues with this "export to image", should I add them in this
section as a new thread or select an other one?

Thank you very much for this incredible product ;-)

I can take a 1200 dpi Snapshot from an A3 landscape map in PDF format, and export it from IrfanView as a transparent PNG or whatever.

So why can you not export your CAD drawings as a PDF, then take a snapshot of details from PDF-XChange at whatever resolution you need? (2400 dpi should be enough I hope).

Hi Bhikku,

my fault not to be realy precise! I referred to the first recommendation only,
which was:
....So for now the work around is to export the entire page to a
suitable format and edit as required in your preferred image editing
program...
Trying this, I ended up with a tif in size 25000x25000 pixels but can not yet
find a software to open and edit this file, any idea?

Anyway, I will check for your proposal!
Thank you!
