PDF Password Questions

Post by NathanG »

I'm considering purchasing, and using the trial now, but have a few password security questions:

1. Can I change passwords on multiple files in one batch job without creating another copy of the file? (ie if I periodically want to change passwords on a large number of files)

2. Can PDF Tools monitor for new files added to a folder and then act on them?

Thank you in advance.

Hello NathanG,

Yes, it is possible to change the password on a file, you would simply include the "secure PDF" action on any custom tools that you create to accomplish this, during the "choose input files" step in PDF tools, a document will be unlocked to allow editing, (temporarily removing the password) if a new password/policy is added in that timeframe, then the new password overwrites the old one. Then finally, you would need to setup the "save documents" action to always overwrite the original file, so that you do not duplicate them.

We do indeed offer folder monitors as well, as detailed in this article.

I hope this helps!
