OCR spelling

Post by simple »

Hi - is there any way to specify spelling for certain words (e.g. counselling vs counseling) OR the language to be recognised from scanned text. I am in New Zealand and don't like the Americanisation of my scans :)

Hello Simple,

The OCR function will try to match what it can properly detect on the page, for example even if "thsi" is a typo, which clearly should be "this" in any English interpretation of the word, if we can properly read the letters in the word, it will still print out as it appears. The dictionary available is used to try and assist when scan quality is questionable. Unfortunately we do not offer alternative versions of English at this time. All languages available for our OCR engine, are present in the "Add/update languages" function directly in the OCR dialog.

There is unfortunately no way to alter or "teach" the OCR engine's any other way to handle what it is recognizing.

Kind regards,
