[Feature request] Automatic Commenting Differences of Overlaid Documents

Post by Barna »

Hello, due to specifics of some of the tasks my colleagues facing at our work, we've spending a lot of time manually comparing two versions of PDF file to find every details where the files differ.
Files contain a lot of pages of quite simple 32-color technical drawings with text and commonly are the same by 98 per cent. However, we need to be sure that we noticed each difference of two versions.

Till now the only acceptable way we found to compare such a documents is by opening files in tabs, switch to single page and fit-to-screen view than manually searching the difference on each page up to down by multiple Ctrl+Tab press.

Even overlay features of PDF X-Change Editor and some number of other products we've tried still don't grant we don't miss some important detail.

So, it would be really great if regarded developers consider such a feature that automatically marks all the differences let's say with user-specified tolerance, via some comment mark e.g. Rectangle tool or any other, so we could see from the very beginning the list of the areas where the differences are detected, skipping all the totally identic pages.

Hello, Barna

We do offer a document comparison tool (it is located on the review tab), though it is still in the very early stages of development. It is only able to compare basic objects at the moment, and does not have many controls, but these are planned for the future.
Unfortunately, due to the complexity of this feature, it will be a long term development item, so you will likely still be looking at a few month, possibly over a year, before it is complete and offers the kind of fine tuning you are looking for right now.

Kind regards,
