I tried to search for how to do this, but I don't fully know all the syntax for the app, and couldn't find anything...
I was wondering if it is possible to view multiple active document tabs simultaneously in a workspace (similar to having multiple panes for a single active document), with two document tabs side by side in the workspace.
for example, I have a PDF that I have created elsewhere, that needs editing (flipping odd pages 180deg. for example), and then running ocr's and viewing that output.
I'd like to view the final edited version, and do a side by side comparison with the OCR'd output version of the document at the same time.

Re: viewing multiple active document tabs simultaneously on large monitors
I found the View>Document Tabs>All Documents to One Tab Group command
nothing happened
is this a feature that requires a paid-license, mabye?
I then tried this command while I had the pre- and post- OCR'd versions of the document I want to compare open in their own tabs.nothing happened

is this a feature that requires a paid-license, mabye?

Re: viewing multiple active document tabs simultaneously on large monitors
Hello Dav,
"Active Document to New Vertical Tab Group" should be what you want to do.
Note that the standard setting is Multi Document Interface (MDI), but if you are using a multi-monitor environment, it might be convenient to change to Single Document Interface (SDI). To change to SDI, open "Preferences" under File menu and press the "Setup..." button in the "General" category to open the "Manage Tabs and Windows" dialog. Then activate the following two settings in the dialog.

- Active Document to New Horizontal Tab Group
- Active Document to New Vertical Tab Group
- All Documents to One Tab Group

- Open each document in a new window
- Hide tab bar when only a single document is opened

Re: viewing multiple active document tabs simultaneously on large monitors
got it to work thank you!
the machine this tool is being used on has three 34" monitors, in a spanned mode. only 1 monitor is needed to see both the pre- and post OCR processed documents. 1 each in a 2 file vertical tab group, with both files in side-by-side fit-to-page view mode. this is excellent for this type of comparison work.
I got it to work without any pdf-xchange settings mods by opening both files, and then selecting the vertical tab group. having the unlicensed version as a demo made it easy to see, as the OCR'd file has the unlicensed copy watermark in the upper corners of each page.
I tried that before I posted this thread, and it seemed like it would only create vertical tabs with the same file in each tab. I seem to recall the file name were the same... but I probably was doing something wrong.
even if that was true, now I've noticed the + sign (next to file tabs) to open another file in the tab group.
that was probably user error of some kind so my bad. I'll mess with the other settings when I have some time and see what happens.
thanks so much for the holiday response.
