Deactivation issue after pressing "window + D" 2 times

Post by cheonantech »

[Press this key]
Windows logo key + D

[To do this]
Display and hide the desktop.

There is an issue that does not automatically activate when "pdf xchange" appears on the screen after pressing this shortcut twice.
This can cause inconvenience of having to use the mouse every time to activate "Pdf xchange".

Is there any way to solve it?

Thank you.

Hello cheonantech,

If you switch desktops with the Task View (virtual desktop) feature, the activation problem you describe doesn't seem to occur.

  • Win + Ctrl + D --- opens a new virtual desktop
  • Win + Ctrl + F4 --- closes the current virtual desktop
  • Win + Ctrl + Left/Right --- switches to the virtual desktop on
Even though it is a completely different feature from the shortcut key "Win+D", perhaps it could be at least a temporary alternative until a complete solution is found. Sorry to interrupt you while you are waiting for a response from Tracker support.

Best regards,
rakunavi

Hello rakunavi,

Many thanks for this alternative approach!
And I've managed to reproduce the "not active" issue described in the original post - but this seems to affect all applications I tried - from my web browser to notepad. Win + D done twice will indeed then require a mouse click to activate a window, and for me it seems to be true irrespective of which was your active application at the time of the first Win + D press.

Kind regards,
Stefan

It depends on the application in my environment. For example, in the case of Microsoft Edge and Acrobat, the focus was maintained without any click even after switching with Win+D, so I was able to continue the operation (e.g., text input).

As I mentioned above, even for applications that do not maintain focus with Win+D, you should be able to maintain focus by using the Task View method described above.

Hello rakunavi,

I tested with Notepad and my daily web browser (opera) and both had exactly the same behaviour. I just tested now with edge (while typing in this reply) and it also lost focus for me. I am still on Win 10, due to update to 11 shortly - but it would seem that a lot of applications are affected and I suspect this is more of a Windows thing than an issue with our products.

Glad that there is a workaround and you have shared it with us!

Kind regards,
Stefan
