Huge Toolbar (Failure to Update Screen Resolution)

Post by ksnyder »

I work on a laptop with a screen resolution of 3840x2400. This is connected, via a USB-C docking hub to two monitors with 1920x1080 resolution. Under normal circumstances, I start up my computer (with the laptop screen open, so I can get to the fingerprint reader) and then close my laptop and work on my two monitors. Everything works fine.

However, after every single Windows update I have to boot up the laptop and then unplug (technically, I can unplug the hub at any time, it doesn't have to be after I boot up the laptop) the USB-C docking hub and plug it back in. Otherwise, my computer does not detect my monitors. When I do this exercise of plugging in my monitors, Windows figures out that the correct screen resolution is now 1920x1080. But PDF-XChange does not. It still thinks my screen resolution is 3840x2400 and it has enormous menu and ribbon buttons that take up half my screen. The way I fix this is by rebooting my computer so that when it boots up it already recognizes my external screens. This solution works fine. But recently Microsoft has been deploying updates practically every day and I am getting annoyed.

Annoyed enough to log on here and ask for help/advice, apparently.

Hello Lev,

Thanks for providing this screenshot. This indeed looks like a scaling problem so these options should resole it.
