Unintended behavior when setting headers on odd and even pages respectively

Post by rakunavi »

Hello all,

This report is about setting headers independently for odd and even pages.

If you set %[Page] as the header for odd and even pages respectively, and change the setting for even pages, the page number is also unintentionally changed. Even if you just press the OK button without changing anything after opening the even pages setting, the page number will be changed.

If you uncheck "Use page range of the currently edited Pagemark" setting in the Header and Footer dialog for even pages and set it to "Pages:All" and "Subset:Even" as you did when you first set the header for even pages, it will of course displayed correctly. If this is not a bug and setting the page range again is the correct procedure, it is a bit confusing and seems to need improvement.

Attached is a verification video that attempts to change only the color for the even page header.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

Hello rakunavi,

It certainly does not feel that you need to uncheck that box for the page range Edit to work correctly - so I will ask our UI devs to take a look!

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan, thank you for your comment.

The more basic the operation is, the more I worry that I am missing something in my understanding of how to operate it, so I am relieved that my sense is normal.

There would be a certain need for users to separate the header formatting for odd and even pages, so I hope that some improvement would be made. Please give my best regards to the developers.

Best regards,
rakunavi
